What is Yubikey?

The YubiKey is a highly durable, multi-protocol hardware security key that delivers both phishing-resistant multi-factor authentication (MFA) and passwordless authentication at scale. Each device offers an exceptional user experience with simple touch to sign functionality. YubiKeys support legacy and modern applications with a range of protocols, including FIDO2/WebAuthn, FIDO U2F, smart card (PIV), OpenGPG and one-time password (OTP), but also offer other useful features such as challenge-response and even the ability to store static passwords. All YubiKeys are specifically designed to work in various climates, are crush-resistant, waterproof, do not use a battery, arrive in a variety of form factors suitable for desktop, laptop or mobile, and finally, come with physical and wireless connectivity options.
